Swartz’s Barber Shop was started by my father, Neal Swartz Sr. He started his barber career in 1964. At the time he worked with two other barbers at the current location. Shortly afterwards he took over the business and it was called Neal’s Barber Shop. My dad went through the 60’s and early 70’s also know in the barber industry as the “age of the Hippee’s” or the “Beatles era”. As hairstyles got longer many barbers went out of business, my dad hung in there. His shop went from a full time shop to a part-time shop as he found full time employment elsewere. He continued working the shop part time until 1988.

Now comes the second generation, Neal T. Swartz Jr. I started my barber career in 1987, attending Lake Erie Barber College in Painseville Ohio. After graduation and passing State of Ohio Boards. I started working with my father (funny story that only lasted one day) and then he retired in October of 1988. At that point the shop went back to a full time shop which it still is today. With in a few years I purchasing the business. Some how along the way the name changed to it’s present: Swartz’s Barber Shop.

As I enter my 20+ years of being a barber, I’ve met a lot of interesting people in my shop, many whom I consider friends today.
